Mark Rodgers is the Principal of The Clapham Group a company that seeks to influence culture upstream of the political arena. Mark served as the third-ranking Republican leadership staffer in the U.S. Senate for six years overseeing strategic planning and strategic communications. He also served as a high profile chief of staff to Senator Rick Santorum, working on Capitol Hill for a total of 16 years. He was known on the Hill for his work on such issues as poverty alleviation and global AIDS, as well as protecting life at its most vulnerable stages.
Mark is a published writer and a speaker at large and small gatherings on the topics of faith and public life, culture and caring for the least of these. His work over the years included an outreach to “culture creators,” and he has worked closely with artists such as Bono, Patty Heaton and The Fray. He still collects pop culture artifacts, as the walls of his office attest.
Mark is a social entrepreneur, and enjoys finding ways to help people “do good while doing well.” In the 1980s, Mark worked at the Pittsburgh Leadership Foundation, a faith-based organization committed to addressing the social needs of Pittsburgh from a Christian perspective. He also founded the National Institute of Lay Education (NILE), which developed adult education curriculum to encourage reflecting Christian involvement in public life. He earned a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from Penn State, and attended Trinity Episcopal School for ministry. He is currently a Policy Fellow with the American Conservative Union Foundation. Mark is married to Leanne, and the proud father of four children.
Ashlynn Welker: Senior Associate
Ashlynn Welker is a Senior Associate at The Clapham Group. She manages Clapham’s work with the ONE Campaign, The Gates Foundation, and a children’s literacy project called Little Lyric Books. She specializes in talent and influencer management, campaign architecture, advocacy, and partnership building.
Prior to her work at The Clapham Group, Ashlynn honed her partnership building and advocacy skills at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in their Political Department. Where she helped develop their Outreach Program, which aims to educate a diverse group of leaders on the US-Israel relationship. Following her work at AIPAC, Ashlynn spent three years at a boutique DC public relations firm as their Director of Special Projects. Her clients included Bloomberg and The U.S Chamber of Commerce’s Center for Women and Business.
Ashlynn is originally from the state of Florida and attended Florida State University (FSU.) She originally entered FSU as a Musical Theater Major, but ended up receiving her degree in Political Science and working for Governor Jeb Bush. The Clapham Group has been a great place for her to explore the intersection of her two loves; creativity and politics!
Kati Simonet: Associate
Kati Simonet is an Associate at The Clapham Group. She assists with Clapham’s work with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, as well as the Annie E. Casey Foundation. Her works focuses on advocacy for the US Foreign Aid budget and children of undocumented immigrants, and influencer engagement.
Kati joined the Clapham Group in June 2017 after graduating from Gordon College, with a degree in International Affairs and a minor in Peace and Conflict Resolution. She is trained in dialogue facilitation, conflict mediation, as well as peer mediation. In 2015, she interned at the transient Croatian refugee camp Slavonski Brod, during her semester studying at the European Center for the Study of War and Peace.
Juliet Vedral: Affiliate
Juliet is a freelance writer and consultant, doing faith and media outreach with the Clapham Group for education, global aid, and paid family leave projects. Prior to coming on at Clapham, Juliet worked at the New York Times Syndicate, Redeemer Presbyterian Church, Sojourners, and the ONE Campaign. She holds a B.A. in Media Studies from Queens College (CUNY) and an MPA from the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) at Columbia University. Juliet collects Watergate memorabilia, loves movies and documentaries about the Cold War, and voraciously consumes episodes of Hardcore History. So basically, she’d get along great with your dad.
Kelly M. Rosati: Affiliate
Kelly M. Rosati, J.D., is the CEO of KMR Consulting and a nationally recognized child advocate. Ms. Rosati is a frequent public speaker, author, and consultant to clients on a variety of issues including adoption, foster care, child protection, faith outreach, human dignity, and mental health care. Her clients include Washington D.C. and Colorado Springs, CO based Foundations as well as a variety of non-profit organizations throughout the U.S. In her previous role, she served as the Vice President of Advocacy for Children at Focus on the Family. While there she co-foundered their Wait No More program where she helped recruit thousands of adoptive families across the U.S. for waiting kids in foster care. The Wait No More program was recognized for its excellence by the White House and Ms. Rosati has testified before Congress about foster care and adoption.
Her work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, National Public Radio, Denver Post, New York Daily News, Christianity Today, Honolulu Star Bulletin, and numerous TV and radio stations nationwide.
She also served for 10 years as the Executive Director of Hawaii Family Forum where she advocated for children and families in the legislature and media. In that role, she was named by the Honolulu Star Bulletin as one of “Ten Who Made a Difference” for the state in 2000 for her role in changing Hawaii’s law to better protect minors from adult exploitation. During that time, she was also appointed by Hawaii’s Governor to serve on the Hawaii Children’s Trust Fund where she became its chair-elect before moving with her family to Colorado.
Ms. Rosati received her undergraduate degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. She received her law degree, cum laude, from the University of Nebraska College of Law. Ms. Rosati and her husband adopted their four children from the foster care system in Hawaii. They live on a ranch with their horses east of Colorado Springs, CO.
Carla Gray: Director of Operations
Carla is the Director of Operations for The Clapham Group. Her background brings 10+ years experience in business management and 5+ years in content marketing and creative direction. As the wife of a diplomat, she spent 14 years overseas, lived on four continents and traveled to nearly 36 countries. In her spare time, Carla enjoys working on her novel, designing modern floral arrangements, and volunteering with the preschool at Homestretch.
